The Process Involved in Improving Your Smile With a Dental Crown

If you are one who is planning on improving your smile with a dental crown but you tend to suffer from dental anxiety, our Smiles Dental team is happy to help you have a positive and successful dental experience when you come into our office.

To help you, Dr. Dr. Clint Guttman and Dr. Marcus Peterson and our team would like to tell you what you can expect during your treatment so you can prepare for your appointment and feel more comfortable in the dental chair. When you come into our office, you can expect the following steps:

-Step 1: First, your dentist will numb your tooth and surrounding tissues with a local anesthetic. Then, they will prepare the tooth that is receiving the crown by trimming its surface to make room for the restoration.

-Step 2: Once your tooth is the right size and shape, your dentist will make impressions of your teeth and will send those impressions to a dental lab. The lab technicians will create a restoration perfect for your smile. While you wait for your crown to be created, you will be given a temporary crown.

-Step 3: When your permanent crown is ready, you will come back into our office to get it placed. When you are in the dental chair, your dentist will check the size, shape, and color of the new crown to make sure it exceeds expectations. If it’s perfect for your smile, they will permanently cement it into place after removing the temporary crown.
